In 2025, we started a board game library in the Children's Resource Center at the WVU Medicine Children's. This started off initially as assorted games purchases by our volunteers. Thanks to the generosity of individuals and publishers, we have added even more games to the library.
The hospital staff say the children have been love the games and with them almost every day! Because of this, we are expanding the Extra Life Board Game Library and are accepting game donations! Two additional Kallaxs will soon be purchased to house the new games.
We have already had a few publishers and individuals donate to the library. We appreciate their support and created a plaque thanking them for their generosity that is displayed above the game library.
To aid those interested in donating games, we have compiled a list of games we currently have in the library. A few things to keep in mind when donating games:
- Games must be new.
- Easy to clean games are preferred. We try to find games that are easy to wash with wipes as needed after the children play the game. Wooden and plastic games are great but not required. We have plenty of card games that we have sleeved with card sleeves.
- Games suitable for 3-15 years old; no mature games or overly violent themed games. Fantasy games are fine.
- Easier to learn games. Ideally, games that children and families can learn in 5-10 minutes.
- We are interested in children appropriate tabletop RPGs.
